About the site author: Derek Mackenzie-Hook is a travel writer and veteran traveler with his two children. Having hauled his offspring to many locations around the globe on many writing assignments, he is a veteran of marathon plane journeys, turbulent sea crossings and arduous car trips with children in tow! Today, Derek lives on a small farm in the Scottish Borders with his two sons who are now teenagers. He has worked as a travel geography teacher and travel writer for many years, his most recent work includes ‘Ireland for Kids’ (Mainstream Publishing) and is a contributing author to ‘Take the Kids – Paris’ (Cadogan Guides).
